Coding Club

Logic before language

What this club is for

Purpose

To introduce computational thinking — sequence, repetition and decision — as a way of solving problems, and then to write it as code.

This club describes what St. Thomas intends to offer. Please ask the school office whether it is currently running for your child's class.

What it aims to develop

  1. Breaking down problems

Learning to break a problem into small, ordered steps before solving it.

  2. Reading your own logic

Reading back your own logic to find where it goes wrong.

  3. Programming basics

The basic building blocks of code — sequence, repetition and decision.

  4. Patience with debugging

The patience to debug calmly instead of guessing at a fix.
